Request a Flu Vaccine Voucher
Get a free flu shot at your local Jewel pharmacy.
With the flu season coming up, the DuPage Health Coalition is joining our partners in DuPage County to make it easier for all of our neighbors to stay healthy and flu-free. With funding provided by DuPage County, DHC is offering free flu vaccine vouchers to uninsured DuPage County residents whose financial circumstances make it difficult to get their annual flu shot. Vouchers will be sent (by email or mail) to all current Access DuPage members and to any other individual who requests them. These vouchers can be redeemed at any Jewel Osco pharmacy until February 28th, while supplies last.
Federally Qualified Health Centers
In addition to the flu vaccine voucher program, several local Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) are also offering flu vaccines to their uninsured patients. If you are a patient at one of the locations below, you can also just call your doctor’s office and make an appointment for your flu shot. No flu vaccine voucher is required!
Getting Vaccinated is Important!
Getting your flu vaccine is important!
Getting a flu vaccine is important this 2021-2022 season to protect yourself, your family and your community from flu. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, taking preventative steps to reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses, like flu, this fall and winter is more important than ever.
Why should people get vaccinated?
To begin, the influenza is a potentially serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death. Every flu season is different, and influenza infection can affect people differently. But millions of people get flu every year, hundreds of thousands of people are hospitalized, and thousands to tens of thousands of people die from flu-related causes every year. Likewise, an annual seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to help protect against flu. Vaccination has been shown to have many benefits including reducing the risk of flu illnesses, hospitalizations and even the risk of flu-related death in children. Furthermore, there is no evidence that getting a flu vaccine increases your risk of getting sick from a coronavirus, like the one that causes COVID-19.
Can I get a flu shot and COVID-19 vaccine or booster shot at the same time?
Yes, you can! The CDC guidelines currently state that both vaccines can be administered at the same visit. However, it is important that vaccine scheduling guidelines are followed for each vaccine type. If you have not gotten your recommended doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, get one as soon as possible, and aim to get your flu vaccine by the end of October.
The more people vaccinated, the more people protected. Do your part – get a flu vaccine this fall!
